What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Counsel position at FedEx Logistics?
To ensure the conduct of legal matters and to provide legal counsel and advice to the company and its subsidiaries with special emphasis on department specific matters.
Provides legal counsel on an assigned basis to members of management and various departments concerning areas of particular expertise. Oversees and evaluates the performance and progress of outside counsel representing the company in department-specific matters. Evaluates, determines, and coordinates the appropriate action/position/ response to be taken by the company. Acts on behalf of the company and participates in the negotiations and drafting of legal documents. Reviews, analyzes, and makes recommendations concerning compliance with federal and state laws and regulations affecting the company's present and future business plans, and recommends actions to affect policy compliance and adopt the best business structure for legal compliance. Conducts or assists in conducting litigation or administration proceeding affecting the company's interests in his/her field of expertise.
Juris doctorate degree and admission to the bar. Fifteen (15) years of experience as an attorney with at least six (6) years of experience in job specific area of law. Strong negotiation, human relations, and communication skills.
