Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Select, educate, develop and lead a team of facilities technicians responsible for maintaining mission-critical HVAC and electrical infrastructure
- Ensure reliable operation of mechanical and electrical systems supporting data center uptime objectives through effective preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Oversee daily facility operation, inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of critical infrastructure including cooling systems, UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution, and related support systems.
- Manage 24x7 facilities coverage including on-call rotations, emergency response, and critical incident management.
- Ensure all maintenance and operational activities comply with applicable codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate closely with IT, data center operations, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to support operational continuity, infrastructure reliability, and capacity planning.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex mechanical and electrical system failures impacting data center operations.
- Monitor facility performance through Building Management Systems, electrical monitoring systems, and related infrastructure tools to proactively identify operational risks.
- Serve as the facilities lead and primary point of contact for day-to-day data center operations, coordinating maintenance activities and infrastructure reliability with IT and operational leadership.
- Manage the daily operational readiness of the data center facility, ensuring all critical infrastructure systems are maintained and capable of supporting uptime requirements.
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, facilities management, or equivalent work experience plus
- Strong understanding of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure including HVAC systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and power distribution
- Demonstrated experience in managing maintenance programs in high-availability environments
- Knowledge of data center redundancy models such as N, N 1, and 2N
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, and technical documentation
- Strong operational decision making and incident response capability
- Experience managing vendors and contractors performing specialized facility work
- Valid driver’s license required
- Some travel required
- Hours may vary due to operational need
- Ability to lift, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as required
