Job Summary
The Sr. Buyer / Planner is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of materials and components required for manufacturing. This role ensures the timely procurement of quality materials at competitive costs while maintaining strong supplier relationships and optimizing inventory levels. The Senior Buyer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality, to drive cost savings and improve supplier performance. Job Summary
The Sr. Buyer / Planner is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of materials and components required for manufacturing. This role ensures the timely procurement of quality materials at competitive costs while maintaining strong supplier relationships and optimizing inventory levels. Responsibilities
- Represent the purchasing organization in daily operation updates
- Maintain on-time delivery of supplier shipments.
- Manage and collaborate strategies to meet production schedule
- Maintain departmental reports for management review (i.e. open orders, vendor on-time delivery).
- Ensure accuracy and proper approval for all purchase orders placed.
- Manage all po suggestions in a timely manner (expedite, de-expedites, cancellations).
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers; resolve issues related to supplier delivery in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and assist with resolving invoice disputes between suppliers and the accounting department.
- Complete all departmental standard work based on managers daily cadence requirements
- Lead project manager for a purchasing project as assigned by the purchasing manager.
- Meet inventory targets provided by the manager.
- Align planning parameters and safety stock to demand changes.
- Provide monthly forecasts to the supplier and discuss any changes that will affect the ability to support the business needs.
- Monitor Inventory to align trade working capital goals with demand requirements Assist with documenting departmental process and procedures
- Serves as a department lead as required
- Serve as the backup for purchasing manager when required
- Develop inventory projects to reduce inventories
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field – supply chain management a plus
- APICS, CPM or CPSM certification preferred
- 5 years minimum work experience in supply chain or related field, preferred
- Customer Experience mindset
