Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for day-to-day management of U.S. employee benefits programs, including:
    1. Health & welfare plans, including medical/RX, dental, vision, life and disability
    2. Retirement plans, specifically pension, 401(k), and non-qualified plans
    3. Absence management policies
    4. Sourcing and implementation of new offering or carriers as applicable
    5. Manage and/or respond to employee and field HR questions and concerns, resolve or escalate with carriers; track and analyze ongoing issues and drive for improvements to mitigate issue re-occurrence 
  2. Monitor trends in employee benefits, gather benchmark data and recommend updates to align with market practices.
  3. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable benefits legislation, mitigate compliance risks, and prepare and manage necessary reports; support annual 401k and pension audits and complete all compliance filings (i.e. 5500).
  4. Work with the Director, Compensation & Benefits to review, manage, and monitor all US enterprise benefit administration processes (including annual open enrollment) to ensure issues are resolved promptly, employee service levels continue to improve over time; identify opportunities to standardize and automate processes.
  5. Supervise benefits specialist and office assistant responsible for coordinating building matters, corporate, and training room events, COBRA administration and other HR and benefit matters as applicable.
  6. Provide advice and support to field HR, managers and executives on benefit related matters.
  7. Provide employee benefits-related analysis and/or data to leadership team as requested/needed; support due diligence, set-up and implementation of acquisition and divestitures and support field HR in integration or divestiture requirements/needs. 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, finance or a related field area required.
  • At least 4 years' experience in Human Resources or Financial leadership roles.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in progressively responsible benefit management roles.
  • Compensation and/or pension plan administration experience desirable.
  • Ability to source and synthesize data from multiple sources to create both high level and detailed written analysis to provide explanations ad propose relevant, cost-effective solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required; ability to present material to a variety of audiences.
  • Outstanding problem-solving ability and affinity.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Ability to think quantitatively with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of effectively implementing new benefits initiatives and solutions on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding with HRIS application benefit configuration and impacts to employee payroll.
  • Proficiency managing large and complex data sets.
  • Daily utilization and knowledge of Excel and other analytical and presentation tools, comfortable working with macros, pivot tables; organizing and presenting data to inform and resolve questions or issues.
