Financial Counselors (PFCs) provide financial counseling services at military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of financial counseling to military service members and their families. Services include financial education and counseling that may involve one-on-one counseling, consultation with a commander or other staff, conducting briefings and educational presentations, or providing referral resources to a participant outside the context of a counseling session. PFCs work with the installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program is provided in scope and meets the needs of the installation. Furthermore, Personal Financial Counselors:

  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing an extended absence financial plan.
  • Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and provide Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle, including arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
  • Respond to requests for age‐appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Possess the ability to utilize virtual counseling or other modes of communication, such as secure chat or video-based communications and tele-conferencing sponsored by the customer which may be offered when service members and families are unable to attend in person.
  • Manage duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and staff the cases with leadership.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in individual and group supervision, share insights regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the PFC is assigned.
  • Participate in regular in-service/training, quality Improvement committees, or other contract activities as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have one of the following active certifications: AFC®; ChFC®; or CFP®.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, speak fluent English, and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and experience.
  • Be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • 3 years of financial counseling experience.

Starting Annual Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
