Position Summary:
Nationwide Uniform (by Fechheimer) in Hodgenville, KY, is seeking a reliable and team-oriented Material Handler to support our Cutting Team and production in a fast paced uniform manufacturing environment. The Material Handler / Forklift Driver supports daily production by safely moving, staging, and tracking materials—such as rolls of fabric, cut parts, and supplies—throughout our Hodgenville KY facility. The role focuses on safe forklift operation, accurate inventory handling, and timely delivery of materials to work centers. Forklift experience is preferred; Fechheimer provides training and certification/recertification for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities:
In this role you will be required to…
Material Movement & Staging
- Move freight, stock, and materials to/from storage, production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material‑handling equipment.
- Load/unload pallets and secure cargo; stage rolls of fabric and tubs of cut parts for production in designated locations.
- Push, pull, and transport tubs of cut parts throughout the plant (up to 50 lbs.).
Forklift & Equipment Operation
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely; complete basic pre‑shift inspections and follow facility traffic patterns and racking/stacking practices.
- Use RF handheld scanners to record material moves and support accurate inventory transactions (preferred/learnable).
Inventory & Documentation
- Read and interpret internal packing/shipping documents and manifests to ensure the right materials go to the right locations.
- Perform simple measurements (e.g., using a ruler/yardstick) and basic arithmetic as needed for material checks and labels.
Quality, Safety & Housekeeping
- Handle materials to prevent damage; inspect rolls of fabric or containers for obvious defects and report issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety rules and promptly report hazards or near‑misses.
- Other duties as assigned, aligned with material movement and warehouse support (non‑supervisory).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to follow work instructions and work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic communication skills; dependable and detail‑oriented.
- Basic math skills and ability to use a ruler/yardstick for measurements.
- Familiarity with RF scanners is preferred (training provided).
- Safe operation of forklifts and pallet jacks; if not experienced, willingness to complete company‑provided training/certification.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift experience is preferred; company will provide certification/recertification for qualified candidates.
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift (up to 8 hours).
Physical Requirements:
- Positional: Frequent to constant standing and walking. Ability to carry or move large items up to 80 lbs. throughout the plant. Running, maneuvering, navigating, and driving trucks or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, or using pallet jackets, etc.
- Gross Mobility: Rare crawling or kneeling. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, crouching, and handling materials.
- Sensory: Rare tasting/smelling. Frequent use of color vision. Occasional use of far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. Frequent use of near and midrange visual acuity, and visual accommodation. Frequent talking.
