Position Summary
The Co-Assistant Superintendent works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain the highest standards of playing conditions on the Joe Lee Signature Championship Golf Course. This role assists in the daily management of golf course maintenance operations, turf care programs, irrigation systems, and crew supervision while delivering excellent course conditions for members and guests.

Full-Time position - Early mornings (often 500 - 600 AM starts) are required.

Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Assign and oversee work for maintenance crew (mowing, bunker raking, trimming, etc.)
- Monitor course conditions (greens, fairways, tees, rough)
- Step in to perform skilled tasks when needed (spraying, irrigation repair, equipment operation)
- Assist with turf care programs including fertilization, aeration, topdressing and pest/disease control
- Apply chemicals (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides) in accordance with label instructions and regulatory requirements.
- Track turf health and report issues or concerns to the Superintendent
- Help manage and troubleshoot irrigation system to ensure proper water coverage and efficiency
- Adjust irrigation schedules based on weather conditions and turf needs
- Assist with equipment coordination and basic preventative maintenance as needed
- Provide direction to crew members during assigned shifts
- Train newer employees on proper maintenance techniques and safety procedures
- Help enforce safety procedures
- Set daily pin placements and tee markers
- Prepare the course for tournaments, member events, and special occasions.
- Assist with course marking, hole location changes, and event setup/teardown as directed. or events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on a golf course maintenance crew strongly preferred.
- Previous experience operating golf course equipment (mowers, sprayers, aerifiers, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of turfgrass management and golf course maintenance practices is a plus.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work early morning hours
- Positive attitude and ability to represent the club professionally
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor outdoors
- Basic knowledge of plants, turf, irrigation systems, and landscaping practices
- Safety-conscious mindset with proper use of tools and chemicals
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently
- The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, use tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color
- Medium to Heavy work; routinely lifting up to 50lbs and occasionally lifting 100 lbs.
