Summary:
The EHS Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies at the facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and supporting EHS programs that foster a safe and compliant workplace, reduce risk, and align with federal, state, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and manage environmental programs including air, water, waste, chemical management, and emergency preparedness.
- Perform and coordinate industrial hygiene sampling, ergonomic assessments, and job safety analysis.
- Participate in hazard assessments and mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable EHS regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments across the facility.
- Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and contractors.
- Support accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis; track corrective actions to closure.
- Maintain environmental reports, permit documentation, and regulatory submissions.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and implement improvement strategies.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into projects and daily operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting (internship or co-op experience may be considered).
- Strong understanding of EHS regulations and compliance programs.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Familiarity with safety tools, risk assessment methodologies, and industrial hygiene principles.
Preferred Skills:
- EIT, CSP, CIH, or other relevant certifications a plus.
- Experience in process safety management (PSM) environments preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement frameworks beneficial.
