The Farm Credit Council is seeking a motivated and dynamic summer intern to join our Washington D.C.-based communications team. This intern will gain hands-on experience in public affairs, digital media and reputation management within the finance and agriculture industry.

Successful applicants will have a proactive attitude, collaborative mindset and experience using social media platforms, video editing and digital content creation using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.

This is a paid internship at $20/hour, with an expectation of working approximately 40 hours per week from May to August. The Farm Credit Council operates on a hybrid schedule of remote work on Mondays and Fridays and in the office Tuesday through Thursday.

Any student of a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or active member of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) selected to intern would receive an additional $3,500 stipend as part of Farm Credit’s Launching Leaders program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in developing social media content across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Creates graphics and short-form videos for social media using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Collaborates with the communications team to create engaging content that reflects the Farm Credit mission and brand.
  • Monitors social media accounts of Farm Credit associations and other key audiences.
  • Drafts written customer story features.
  • Updates campaign pages and customer stories on the website.
  • Develops monthly editorial calendars to support communications and legislative priorities.
  • Tracks social media analytics to identify high-preforming campaigns and trends.
  • Participates in events and other opportunities as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience using social media platforms, video editing and digital content creation
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student
  • Completion of at least one year of undergraduate coursework
  • Legally authorized to perform work in the U.S.
  • Engages professionally and politely with board of directors, members and constituents
  • Supports the core values and mission of the organization
