Position Summary
We are seeking a physically capable Compost Operations Technician to support our composting facility's daily operations. This role involves hands-on work with organic material processing, equipment and system maintenance. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain composting equipment, including water trucks, conveyors, and screening systems
- Perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
- Conduct basic plumbing tasks to maintain irrigation and leachate systems
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical and mechanical issues on-site
- Use basic computer programs to log data, track inventory, and monitor system performance
- Assist with facility upkeep, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining safe work areas
- Follow safety protocols and environmental regulations at all times
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus
- Experience operating water trucks or similar heavy equipment
- Basic plumbing knowledge and hands-on repair experience
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Proven ability to lift and carry heavy materials (50 lbs )
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Comfortable working in an environment with organic waste and natural odors
