It is a leader in the execution of transport infrastructure, as well as in residential and non-residential construction. Project Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Scheduler to join our FCC Team assigned to the MTA’s Second Avenue Subway Project.

This position is based in New York, NY, and requires daily presence in the office and/or on construction sites.

The MTA’s Second Avenue Subway project is a $7.7B expansion that will extend the Q Line from 96th Street into East Harlem, adding three new ADA-accessible stations at 106th, 116th, and 125th Streets. This long-awaited project will restore rapid transit access to a community underserved for decades, ease overcrowding on the Lexington Avenue line, and cut commute times—delivering a transformative impact for East Harlem residents and the city as a whole.

This position will support the $2 billion design-build contract for Phase 2, which includes two tunnels that will enable the development of two new subway stations in New York. Led by Connect Plus Partners, a joint venture between FCC Construction and Halmar International, the project brings together extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure, complex tunneling, and urban transit construction.

Position Summary

Reports to: Schedule Manager

The Senior Scheduler is a key technical contributor responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated construction schedules for a complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure project. This role supports project execution by ensuring schedule integrity, tracking critical milestones, identifying potential delays, and providing time-impact assessments for decision-making and claims management. The Senior Scheduler works closely with construction, engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure schedule alignment with field activities and contractual obligations. The role is highly analytical and requires deep knowledge of Primavera P6, contractor schedule integration, and reporting requirements for public infrastructure projects in New York City.

The Senior Scheduler’s key responsibilities are:

  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated schedules for all phases of project execution, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Work with construction teams to gather field-level updates, evaluate activity progress, and identify schedule risks.
  • Lead monthly and weekly schedule update cycles, including data validation, sequencing updates, and performance forecasting.
  • Conduct critical path analysis, evaluating risks and forecasting potential delays.
  • Generate look-ahead schedules, weekly layout reports, and recovery plans in coordination with field teams and project management.
  • Track and report progress trends, variances, and performance metrics against baseline schedule.
  • Support the preparation of Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) to assess impacts from delays, changes, or unforeseen conditions, and assist in the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly progress reports, charts, dashboards, and schedule narratives for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor consistency of Primavera P6 data, including activity coding, calendars, and baseline management.
  • Coordinate with the project controls team to align schedule data with cost, risk, and earned value metrics.
  • Maintain documentation of schedule changes, revisions, and baseline updates.
  • Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessions to gather accurate field data and represent schedule impacts.
  • Provide support to the Schedule Manager in developing standardized procedures, KPIs, and scheduling best practices.
  • Collaborate with the construction, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure all phases (pre-construction, execution, MEP integration, and closeout) are accurately represented in the schedule.
  • Provide high-level schedule analysis, including Earned Value Management (EVM) integration, to monitor performance against baseline plans.
  • Generate monthly schedule reports and executive dashboards for both internal teams and public stakeholders.
  • Support long-term strategic planning across multiple project scopes or portfolios.
  • Participate in project controls integration, aligning schedule forecasts with cost and risk management frameworks.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of scheduling experience in heavy civil, tunneling, or infrastructure projects, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Advanced expertise in Primavera P6, including cost/resource loading, baseline management, and schedule risk analysis.
  • Previous scheduling experience on MTA or major transit infrastructure projects strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with schedule reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in TILOS for linear or location-based scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and Time Impact Analysis (TIA) methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver schedule insights to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and field reports and convert them into logical schedule activities.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods, particularly for self-performed civil works and tunneling operations.
  • Familiarity with contractual scheduling requirements, WBS development, and schedule narratives.
  • Knowledge of risk-based scheduling techniques, including delay analysis and Time Impact Analysis.
  • Willingness to conduct regular site visits and maintain schedule alignment with field progress.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Physical Demands

  • Work will be performed primarily in an office environment with regular interaction across project teams.
  • Extended periods of computer-based work required for scheduling, analysis, and reporting.
  • Must be able to sit, type, and review technical and financial documentation for prolonged periods with high accuracy.
  • Occasional site visits to active construction areas, including underground environments, with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and variable weather conditions.
  • Requires use of PPE (hard hats, safety boots, eye/ear protection, high-visibility clothing) during site visits.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends to meet reporting deadlines and critical project milestones.
