Controller

The Controller leads the company’s accounting and financial control functions, ensuring accurate, timely reporting and robust internal controls. This role maintains up-to-date financial records, supports audits, oversees payroll accuracy, manages cash flow, and partners with senior leadership to manage risk, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The Controller reports to the AFC Manager and assists with developing policies, procedures, and financial plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish, monitor, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Maintain accurate ledgers, reconciliations, and month/quarter/year-end close calendars and deliverables
• Lead budgeting and forecasting; ensure expenses align with projected revenue and strategic priorities
• Prepare and present financial statements and management reports, including variance analyses (revenue, EBITDA, CAPEX, direct margin, investments); identify risks/opportunities and recommend corrective actions
• Conduct financial analysis and interpret variances versus budget/standards; provide insights and action plans to management
• Manage cash flow, minimize idle balances, and recommend short-term investments as appropriate
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements; monitor legislative changes and file required reports
• Coordinate internal and external audits; compile supporting documentation and resolve findings
• Safeguard confidential financial information, records, and plans
• Develop and maintain internal control guidelines and documentation for budget accounting, cash/credit management, and related activities
• Establish and maintain financial controls across the accounting function; ensure accurate, timely payroll documentation and tax compliance
• Organize information and statements for auditors; respond to inquiries promptly and thoroughly
• Supervise accounting staff: assign work, set priorities, coach, and follow up on results
• Perform additional controller duties as needed

EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (accounting emphasis preferred)
• 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including prior controller or accounting leadership roles
• CPA or CMA required
• Deep knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with IFRS a plus
• Strength in budgeting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and internal controls
• Proficiency with accounting software/ERPs; experience with system implementation preferred
• Advanced Microsoft 365 skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Access a plus)
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and partner with senior executives
• High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse, multi-location workforce; willingness to travel as needed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods
