Job Purpose
The Crisis Counselor is responsible for providing quality crisis assessment and intervention to individuals presenting to the Behavioral Health Crisis Center in a timely and responsible manner.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related Field
- Must have all necessary course work and meet all the requirements to be licensed within the State of Missouri, at a minimum be eligible to begin supervision OR
- Must meet the Department of Mental Health’s Criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional
Core Job Duties
- Conduct Crisis Assessments to determine appropriate level of care.
- Provide Crisis Interventions.
- Maintains working knowledge of all civil involuntary detention procedures.
- Discharge/transition/aftercare plans completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide lethal means counseling and complete safety plan with clients.
- Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
- Maintain client records, following agency and state regulations.
- Interface with other community partners such as law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, etc.
- Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
- Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
- Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
- Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
