What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Maintenance position at FCA Packaging?

Summary

The Machine Maintenance will be responsible for providing facility maintenance, performing mechanical repairs on a variety of machines, operating machine tools as needed to repair machine parts, perform necessary lock out/tag out procedures on equipment being repaired, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area when repairing equipment while utilizing all safety equipment required. All work orders will be reported using a computerized system. Prior experience in the lumber industry or in a construction or manufacturing setting would be helpful.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning machines and equipment on the production floor to keep the production lines running.
  • Assist in the development of the preventative maintenance plan and follow PM plan for maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform the proper lock out/tag out procedure while completing repairs.
  • Perform routine electrical repairs.
  • Perform routine interior and exterior repairs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area when repairing equipment.
  • Communicate with the facility leadership and production team in a timely manner.
  • Facility maintenance and grounds upkeep.
  • Perform basic forklift repair and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot problems on production machines and saws.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency and commitment to continuous improvement regarding all areas of responsibility: work force, training, housekeeping, etc.

Education and/or Experience

An associate degree in a related field is preferred. Prior experience as a maintenance technician in a production setting is required. Candidate should have 5 years of experience and/or education. Experience in welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred. Basic machine electrical control experience required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents in English, and communicate those out effectively. Bilingual skills are preferred, but not required. Professional communication is required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and use basic math skills.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to work in a computer system generating reports and metrics. Knowledge of basic Microsoft Suite preferred.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
