POSITION TITLE: Personal Insurance Advisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Business Development
SALARY RANGE: $67,500- 87,500 (subject to experience, education, and designations)
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
To serve as a trusted advisor to personal lines clients by independently managing a portfolio of accounts, identifying coverage needs, and providing strategic insurance recommendations. This role is responsible for developing new business, retaining existing accounts, and ensuring long-term growth and profitability for CRS Insurance Brokerage. The Personal Insurance Advisor exercises independent judgment in resolving client concerns, negotiating with carriers, and designing comprehensive insurance plans tailored to client needs.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/BEHAVIORS
• Possess and maintain a Property & Casualty Producer license.
• Minimum of three years’ personal insurance sales or account management experience.
• Strong knowledge of personal lines coverages, carrier guidelines, and underwriting rules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate and influence clients.
• Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when advising clients, resolving concerns, and negotiating with carriers.
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/BEHAVIORS
• Possess ACSR or comparable designation and be working to obtain AAI or comparable designation.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record of achieving new business production and retention goals.
• Experience presenting and delivering insurance proposals to clients.
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND BEHAVIORS:
• Be knowledgeable in personal line coverages and familiar with company guidelines and underwriting rules.
• Good communication, detail, prioritizing, and organizational skills.
• Must hold property and casualty producer license.
• Possess or in the process of obtaining CISR or comparable designation.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for account servicing needs directly with the client during the policy year, including but not limited to the following:
Client Service & Communication
• Serve as the primary advisor and advocate for clients, providing consultative recommendations on coverage options and risk management strategies.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, conducting stewardship meetings and completing CRS Customer Questionnaires to assess evolving needs.
• Exercise discretion in resolving client complaints, claims issues, and billing concerns in collaboration with carriers and underwriters.
• Educate clients on the claims process, ensuring they are informed and supported through resolution.
Policy Administration
• Manage renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and non-renewals, ensuring policies are accurate and timely.
• Review policy documents, proposals, and applications for accuracy and compliance with client needs.
• Oversee remarketing efforts when appropriate, using judgment to recommend optimal carrier placements.
• Maintain accurate client and policy records in the agency management system, ensuring data integrity.
Sales & Business Development
• Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities through prospecting, marketing, and networking.
• Design comprehensive insurance programs tailored to individual client needs and financial objectives.
• Prepare and present insurance proposals, securing new business and retaining existing accounts.
• Meet annual sales and retention goals established by management.
• Negotiate with underwriters to obtain favorable pricing, terms, and coverage for clients.
• Monitor and manage receivables, collections, and outstanding audits as needed.
Team Collaboration
• Partner with Producers, Account Managers, and support staff to ensure seamless client service.
• Share expertise with colleagues and mentor newer team members when opportunities arise.
• Contribute to departmental growth initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Other strategic duties as assigned.
