Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to support the design, programming, troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of PLC-based control systems and electrical equipment within a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining reliable and efficient electrical and automation systems while supporting engineering and capital improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, modify, build, install, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems and control panels.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation and AutomationDirect PLCs.
- Troubleshoot PLC hardware, I/O modules, communication networks, and industrial automation equipment.
- Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, sensors, actuators, motion controllers, and HMIs.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and automation systems.
- Respond to electrical and automation breakdowns and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
- Support engineering teams with equipment upgrades, capital projects, installations, and commissioning.
- Work with OEMs and vendors for technical support, equipment issues, warranty matters, and spare parts.
- Maintain accurate electrical, PLC, maintenance, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and applicable safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 years of hands-on industrial electrical/electrical technician experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, AutomationDirect, Siemens, or equivalent PLC platforms.
- Strong knowledge of single- and three-phase electrical systems, motor controls, industrial wiring, and conduit installation.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic.
- Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, and thermal imaging cameras.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience with EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and industrial networking.
- Experience with managed switches and industrial cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Experience troubleshooting servo drives, motion control systems, and multi-axis applications.
- HMI development and programming experience.
