CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COORDINATOR

Part-Time | 25–30 Hours Per Week

Compensation: $33,000-$37,000 per year

Position Summary

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is seeking a passionate and organized Children’s Ministry Coordinator to lead our ministry with children (birth through 5th grade) and their families.

This part-time position is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and coordination of a comprehensive children’s ministry program that nurtures spiritual growth, builds meaningful relationships, and supports families in faith formation. The Coordinator manages a children’s ministry program responsive to the needs of children and their families in the congregation. Other than Sunday and Wednesday obligations, on-site hours are flexible.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide the vision for children’s ministry within the scope of the vision of the church, ensuring that all programming relates to the values of children’s ministry and the mission of FFUMC

Program Leadership

• Coordinate weekly activities like Sunday School, Wonders of Worship, and Wednesday programming working with a team of volunteers.
• Coordinate annual Vacation Bible School with support from other staff and volunteers

Volunteer Development

• Support existing children’s ministry volunteers. Recruit and train others.
• Work with Children’s Ministry volunteer council

Family Engagement

• Build relationships with families and communicate regularly through email and other channels.
• Engage with FFUMC’s Messy Church monthly worship

Administration

• Maintain attendance records, oversee the children’s ministry budget, and ensure Safe Sanctuary compliance.
• Submit a written report on activities, plans, and progress to the Church Council for presentation at Council meetings

Working Relationships

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will work with the Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor, youth ministry staff, other ministers, and the office staff. The Director will have contact with children in the congregation and their families, volunteers, and other members of the congregation. This position reports to the Associate Pastor and the Senior Pastor.

Position Qualifications

• Strong Christian commitment and passion for ministry with children and their families
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; experience in children’s ministry preferred
• Understanding of United Methodist theology
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Good administrative skills and a heart and passion for children

Schedule

25–30 hours per week, including Sunday mornings (9:30-12:30), Wednesday evenings (5:00-7:00), and designated church events.
