PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Description: Student Support Specialist
- Consults with school administrators, teachers, other faculty, students, and families on referrals and follow-up reports regarding students in the referral pathways system.
- Collaborate/partnership with community agencies in helping students and/or their families locate available supports/resources to meet their needs.
- Engage with students' and assists families of mental health awareness and offer psychoeducational groups like but not limited to anger, conflict resolution, coping skills, grief/loss, bullying prevention, parenting, self-esteem, social skills, stress, substance use, trauma, etc.
- Facilitation of classroom presentations on mental health
- Coordinate positive school climate activities
- Classroom Observations
- Case management
- Plans, conducts, and evaluates parent trainings.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
- Experience in working with youth behaviors
- Experience working in small group
- Strong oral and written skills
- Highly motivated with strong organizational skills and must be a multitasker.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience collaborating with community based organizations and other city agencies.
- Knowledge and experience with computers, including: word processing, databases, and internet access.
