SUMMARY: Provide high quality instruction and implement curriculum for assigned students; establish, foster, facilitate
and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance
2. Provide content related and appropriate instruction based on Fayette County’s curriculum and Georgia Department
of Education standards
3. Use research based instructional strategies to engage students in active, student-centered learning
4. Maintain lesson plans and use relevant data to plan for instruction to meet the needs of all students
5. Assess, document and prepare reports such as achievement progress, grade and classroom performance, and
attendance
6. Provide a well-managed, safe and orderly environment that encourages respect for all
7. Participate in student related conferences in order to enhance student learning
8. Perform additional activities and duties intended for school and student enhancement
9. Attend required meetings (faculty, department, MTSS, IEPs, 504, etc.) and professional learning sessions
10. Promote a positive school environment that enhances student learning
11. Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, staff, community and central office personnel
12. Ability to be present at the physical worksite
13. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations
14. Perform other duties as assigned and allowable by intended program
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Hold or be eligible for school system’s required certification in appropriate educational field
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work well with students, parents, staff and the community
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force
occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent
bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling and repetitive fine motor activities.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking and sitting. Vision, hearing and verbal communications are essential functions of this
position.

Valid Professional Standards Commission approved subject specific endorsements, as required
Master’s Degree from accredited college or university
Experience as a classroom teacher
