LINE COOK JOB DESCRIPTION
PAY RANGE: $18-$23/hr
STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Line Cook at Villa Roma Resort is responsible for preparing high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and established food preparation procedures. This position plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests while maintaining food safety standards and kitchen cleanliness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation specifications
• Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies and food items
• Prepare ingredients by following prep lists, portioning, and marinating items
• Cook menu items according to established recipes and timing guidelines
• Monitor food quality and ensure consistent presentation
• Properly store all food items at correct temperatures and following food safety procedures
• Clean and maintain workstations, cooking equipment, and kitchen areas
• Support other kitchen staff by assisting with other food preparation when necessary • Communicate effectively with other kitchen and service staff
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage items
• Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions • Participate in kitchen inventory and ordering processes as directed
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar culinary role preferred
• Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen procedures
• Strong knife skills and knowledge of proper food handling techniques
• Ability to follow recipe directions and food preparation guidelines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• High-volume kitchen environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and busy conditions
• Will be required to work in areas that are hot, humid, noisy, and in close quarters with others
• Must be able to lift, reach, bend, and stand for extended periods of time
