Position Overview
The Prep Cook plays a key role in kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and supporting the culinary team to ensure timely and consistent food preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for service including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and preparing sauces and dressings
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality
- Assist cooks and chefs with food preparation during service as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, storage areas, and equipment
- Properly store and label food items in accordance with food safety standards
- Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking inventory
- Ensure all food preparation meets health and sanitation regulations
- Support the team during busy service periods and special events
- Assist with basic cooking tasks when needed
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment at all times
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 pounds
- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
