SWIM INSTRUCTOR

Responsible for providing high-quality swim instruction to members and guests of all ages during Spring and Summer seasons. Swim Instructors demonstrate and communicate skilled knowledge in swimming while creating a safe, encouraging, and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-water swim lessons under the direction of the Swim Lesson Coordinator, utilizing consistent teaching methods established by the Farmington Aquatics Team.
• Ensure lessons are taught in a manner that is both positive and fun to promote swimmer engagement.
• Plan and utilize skill and age-appropriate swim lessons that reinforce swimmer development through positive, technique-focused instruction.
• Assess swimmer ability and adapt teaching methods to ensure lessons are constructive, engaging, and goal oriented.
• Track and document student progress using approved assessment and record-keeping methods.
• Communicate effectively with parents by providing regular updates on swimmer progress and addressing administrative needs, including package renewals, as well as any questions or concerns as they arise.
• Prioritizes safety through close supervision and enforcement of water safety standards in and around the pool deck.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of designated storage areas, office space, and the pool deck during and after all lessons.
• Represent Farmington Country Club in a professional capacity both in and out of the water by adhering to all club policies and procedures.
• Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and Club events.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum age of sixteen (16) years
• Must be able to swim in water of any depth.
• Must be able to work at varied temperatures.
• One (1) year swim instructor experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail.
• Ability to work with swimmers of various ages.
• Demonstrated swimming proficiency.
• Demonstrated patient and empathetic teaching style.
• Availability to work a minimum of ten (10) hours per week during varied shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Certifications:

• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent (preferred).
• American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR for the Professional Rescuers a plus.
• American Red Cross CPR, First Aid and AED training or equivalent (will provide if needed).
