Farmington Country Club presents an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our seasonal Food and Beverage Operations team as a part-time Poolside Grill Bartender. This position is central to delivering exceptional beverage service in one of the Club’s most energetic and high-traffic summer environments. The ideal candidate is confident behind the bar, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and brings a genuine passion for hospitality, beverage knowledge, and personalized service to every member interaction.
The Poolside Grill is Farmington’s quick-service, family-friendly restaurant, open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day for lunch and dinner service. While the environment is fun and relaxed, service standards remain elevated. The bar serves as a social hub for adult members, offering a full beverage program alongside poolside dining, ice cream, milkshakes, and specialty drinks. From crafting consistent, high-quality cocktails and maintaining a clean, organized bar to engaging members with warm, professional service, the Poolside Grill Bartender plays a vital role in shaping the overall poolside experience throughout the summer season.
Our ideal candidate must be available to work an average of 3 to 5 shifts a week, with shifts being 7 to 9 hours in length.
Responsibilities:

Serve snack bar food and drinks efficiently, while maintaining side work duties;

Greet members by name, and verify name and account number for every order;

Be familiar with menu preparation and ingredients, and be aware of allergens as they may pertain to member safety;

Maintain current knowledge of beer, wine and liquor as it pertains to the poolside grill menu;

Follow all checklists for set-up and clean-up bar duties;

Prepare all drink orders ordered by members at Poolside Bar;

Prepare all drink orders ordered by service staff for members and guests;

Make rounds on the pool deck during down periods to take members orders;

At end of shift, return all alcohol to proper location, putting away beverages and rotating stock and inventory as needed;

Secure all alcohol under lock and key;

Maintain neat and orderly beverage storage areas;

Creativity with Cocktail Ideas and Promotions;

Notify Poolside Grill Manager about member and guest comments;

Notify Poolside Grill Manager about supply and inventory requirements;

Maintain confidence behind the bar alone for extended periods of time;

Assist service staff with general clean up when break down of bar is complete;

Complete a requisition as needed for both food and beverage items needed for the bar;

Verify name and account number for every chit and enter information into point-of-sale terminal;

Card anyone ordering alcohol who looks to be under the thirty (30) years of age;

Adhere to Virginia ABC Laws;

Complete and pass a written test on alcohol offerings within two weeks of hire;

Complete TIPS training within one month of hire;
Qualifications:

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older;

Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds;

Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully;

High level of professionalism is required;

Ability to stand for extended periods of time up to seven (7) consecutive hours;

Previous bartending experience preferred but not required. If candidate has no previous bartending experience, previous serving experience is required;

Available to work between 2-4 shifts a week, nights and weekends;

Must be able to work all 3 holidays (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day) during peak pool season;
