The Long Island Educational Opportunity Center (LIEOC) at Farmingdale State College is seeking a Career Advisor to build employer partnerships, connect students to job opportunities, and support career readiness programming. This role includes outreach, job development, student coaching, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include
- Assist students and community members in the job search process including resume writing, cover letter composition, and interview skills.
- Create and deliver workshops on job search skills and employment readiness.
- Conduct follow up for job verification and enter student information in Banner.
- Research job leads through online platforms, agencies, and employer networks.
- Gather job requirements, match candidates to openings, and coordinate referrals and follow-up.
- Organize and participate in job fairs, recruitment events, and community outreach.
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers, industry partners, and training agencies.
- Conduct outreach and cold calls to promote LIEOC programs and identify job opportunities
- Promote and secure on-the-job training opportunities with local industries and advocate for hiring disadvantaged applicants.
- Assist with admissions and registration processes as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience supporting career readiness, workforce development, or related student success initiatives.
- Ability to travel to various locations across Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
- Master's degree.
- Experience in workforce career readiness.
- Community relations experience.
- Training or instructional experience.
- Experience working with disadvantaged populations.
- Bilingual proficiency.
This is a full-time UUP position.
- For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, May 21, 2026, and ending Thursday, June 4, 2026, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
