Job Summary
The shipping supervisor will carefully monitor shipping practices to certify that accurate and timely picking, staging, and loading procedures are being followed on their shift. Work with and oversee the leads responsibilities in directing the work of shipping laborers, scanners, and cooler organizers. It is critical that the supervisor be engaged in all current activities to ensure the shift is working to its fullest potential and accomplishing the tasks at hand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Customer orders are set-up, picked, staged, and loaded accurately and in a timely manner. This includes any additional paperwork required by certain customers. If loads are delayed for any reason (like product availability) it is the supervisor’s job to communicate that to the shipping manager and/or production planning.
-Schedule and approve shipping team member’s vacations and personal days. Approve and sign off on team member’s timesheets through ADP Timesaver with minimal errors. This includes reporting absences, partial days worked, vacations and personal days to payroll and human resources.
-Assist in the daily, and period ending inventory counts. Report counts any discrepancies to the shipping manager and inventory control personnel.
-Make sure all shipping team members are performing their duties in a safe manner. Also, monitor the warehouse for any possible safety or quality concerns.
-Operate ERP software (currently Microsoft Dynamics NAV) to create driver Bill of Ladings and customer Pro Forma Invoices as well as view current inventories.
-Ensure all SOP’s established for the shipping department are being followed and all guidelines set forth by OSHA, USDA, and SQF are being followed.
-Directly supervises an entire shift (approximately 8 team members) within the shipping department, carries out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the companies’ policies and applicable laws. –Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing safety or quality concerns.
Required Qualifications (Due to the high volume of applicants, only those who meet the minimum qualifications will be selected for interviews):
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or 3-5 years related experience.
