What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Faribault Foods, Inc?
SUMMARY: This position is a member of the accounting team that is responsible for the overall integrity, reporting and timeliness of all accounting data that populates the SAP General Ledger system, along with records used to support that system. Ensures that Faribault Foods complies with all applicable GAAP, FASB, IRS, creditors, and other regulatory bodies’ requirements. Serves as a role model and mentor for employees; acts responsible in the management and preservation of company assets. This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days onsite each week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage fixed assets in SAP:
- Project accounting
- Proper coding, assignment of depreciation into SAP, reconciliation, document support
- Quarterly and year-end audit schedules
- Prepare month-end journal entries
- Monthly freight expenditure reporting
- Bank and petty cash reconciliations
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations
- Assessment and management of leases
- Sales and use tax compliance and returns
- Review of accounts payable disbursements – account coding, legitimacy, timeliness
- Support annual insurance renewal and act as liaison between Faribault Foods and insurance broker
- Preparation of annual government reports
- License and tax payments to government agencies
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Experience: 2-5 years’ accounting experience
Skills:
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP, Microsoft Office Applications (SAP experience preferred)
- High integrity while dealing with confidential information
- Detail-oriented
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to the Accounting Manager
- Works closely with other members of the finance, engineering, and manufacturing departments
