Role Description The Insurance Coverage Attorney will handle insurance coverage matters from initial claim review through resolution, including policy analysis, coverage opinions, and litigation of coverage disputes. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, and coverage position letters; conducting legal research; managing discovery; and appearing in court and alternative dispute forums as needed. The attorney will collaborate with partners, associates, clients, and claims professionals to develop strategies that align with client objectives and firm standards. This is a full-time role based in Garden City, New York. Open to hybrid/remote applicants.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with insurance coverage work, including discovery and or motion practice
- Background in commercial general liability, premises liability or other civil practice areas that intersect with coverage issues is beneficial.
- Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutory, and regulatory analysis.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York; admission in additional jurisdictions (NJ, CT, FL) is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with attention to detail in drafting and analysis.
- Ability to meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
