Role Overview

The Director of Email Operations will oversee the strategic development and execution of Fanatics' email marketing operations, including direct involvement in campaign building and deployment using Adobe Journey Optimizer. This role will focus on process improvement, capacity management, and team leadership while maintaining hands-on involvement in campaign execution.

How you will make an impact:

  • Build, test, and deploy sophisticated email marketing campaigns using Adobe Journey Optimizer, ensuring proper segmentation, personalization, and journey orchestration across all customer touchpoints
  • Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies for email campaign management, including capacity planning, workflow optimization, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of all marketing initiatives
  • Lead and mentor a team of email campaign operators, providing guidance on best practices, technical solutions, and professional development while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Design and implement robust quality assurance processes and testing protocols to minimize errors and maintain high standards across all email campaigns, including A/B testing, rendering tests, and content validation
  • Monitor and analyze operational metrics, creating regular reports on team performance, campaign effectiveness, and process efficiency to identify areas for improvement and optimization
  • Establish and maintain documentation for campaign building standards, operating procedures, best practices, and training materials to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing across the team
  • Drive the adoption and optimization of email marketing technologies, particularly Adobe Journey Optimizer and Workfront, to maximize platform capabilities and team efficiency

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in email marketing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing email campaign teams
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Adobe Journey Optimizer, including journey building, segment creation, and campaign deployment
  • Proven expertise in email campaign building, including knowledge of dynamic content, personalization tokens, and journey orchestration
  • Strong understanding of email marketing best practices, deliverability requirements, and industry regulations including CAN-SPAM compliance
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies in a high-volume email marketing environment
  • Outstanding leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in data-driven decision making
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Adobe Journey Optimizer certification
    • Experience with SQL and data management platforms
    • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and email coding best practices
    • Experience with API integrations and marketing automation workflows
    • Previous experience in sports, retail, or e-commerce industry
