What You'll Be Doing (aka Your Playbook)
Keep Watch & Keep it Safe
- Supervise our gyms, fields, and outdoor courts during games, practices, and open play.
- Make sure everyone - from tiny dribblers to grown-up volunteers - stays safe, seen, and supported.
- Address safety concerns like a pro (think referee, coach, and teammate all in one).
- Lead with our YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Promote good sportsmanship, positive vibes, and inclusive play.
- Support everyone with empathy, fairness, and encouragement.
- Help with equipment set-up and tear-down, keep things on schedule, and lend a hand wherever needed.
- Pitch in with check-ins, attendance, and clear communication between coaches, refs, and staff.
- Keep gym and field spaces clean, organized, and game-day ready.
- Lock/unlock facilities and help with lighting and minor equipment adjustments.
- Report maintenance needs - because you notice what matters.
- A heart for youth and a head for safety.
- A willingness to get active - walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and leading.
- Strong people skills, problem-solving, and a calm presence in energetic spaces.
- Weekend and evening availability.
