Overview
Family Wellness Outreach Center of MS is seeking a passionate and motivated Community Outreach Educator to join our team in Tupelo, MS. This full-time position plays a vital role in engaging with the community and schools to promote Sexual Risk Avoidance Initiatives. The Educator will collaborate with community partners, attend outreach events, and assist in delivering abstinence education to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among youth.
This role will include traveling to and working within schools and communities in Clay, Lowndes, and Chickasaw counties.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement educational programs tailored to the needs of children and families in high-risk communities.
- Provide training focused on sexual risk avoidance and abstinence education.
- Educate youth and families on the risks of early sexual activity and methods of prevention.
- Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to both children and adults.
- Maintain accurate documentation to ensure program fidelity and compliance.
- Collect and analyze data to measure program effectiveness and inform improvements.
- Represent the organization at community events and establish strong partnerships with local stakeholders.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance
- Willingness to travel regularly within Clay, Lowndes, and Chickasaw counties
- Must be able to pass a background check upon hire
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Experience in community outreach or youth engagement
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
