Position Overview

The Nutrition Coordinator holds accountability for food preparation for enrolled families within the organization. This role requires adaptability to accommodate menu changes and ensuring timely delivery of meals and snacks. Additionally, the Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for upholding safe food preparation practices and maintaining a hygienic kitchen and pantry. This includes assisting with administrative requirements outlined by the USDA, such as documentation, meal planning, menus, and food pantry management, as well as managing staff events. The Nutrition Coordinator also holds responsibility for the safe operation of the organization's site kitchens and food pantry, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations for safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities 90%

65% Food Preparation

· Adhere to food safety regulations.

· Assist with food pantry ordering, collection, delivery, and shelving.

· Ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation requirements are met in all food prep areas, kitchens, and spaces.

· Ensure Family Tree Relief Nursery meets and exceeds accommodations and notification of ingredients that may trigger food allergies or intolerance.

· Assist with inventory management and purchases for all FTRN kitchen needs.

· Assist with managing product storage, maintenance, and rotation activities to avoid any damage or spoilage.

· Assist with organizing, planning, and preparing food for the classroom, nurturing parenting evening classes, events, and staff requirements.

· Prepare healthy meals to Relief Nursery classrooms based on pre-planned menus; comply with all counties, state, and USDA health, safety, and nutrition guidelines and regulations.

· Prepare food for events within FTRN Programming as directed by Direct Supervisor.

25% Administration

· Assist with completing all USDA documentation as required.

· Comply with all sanitation, safety, and nutrition guidelines and regulations.

· Assist the coordination of the ordering, pick up, purchase, and delivery of food and supplies for food service for FTRN.

· Assist with the creation of menus for the classroom that comply with all counties, state, and USDA regulations.

· Keep up to date with daily, weekly, and monthly requirements for all food services such as cleaning, maintenance, dishwasher, and refrigerator temperature checks.

· Assist in the coordination of any Food Pantry related programming needs as assigned by Direct Supervisor.

Other Duties 10%

· Other Duties as Assigned.

General Expectations:

· Attend and participate in required supervision, team meetings, All Staff meetings, and training as required.

· Attend community, work, and family events assigned.

· Complete all data and reports in the timeframes stipulated.

· Comply with all health and safety standards per state regulations.

· Comply with state guidelines regarding mandated reporting of suspected abuse and/or neglect.

· Document hours and mileage in accordance with Relief Nursery policy.

· Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.

· Maintain an acceptable driving record, driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance while employed at Family Tree Relief Nursery.

· Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with Relief Nursery policies.

· Serve as a member of one Family Tree Relief Nursery Committee: DEI, Safety, Social Engagement, Family Events, or Self-Care. Carrying out duties of this committee as agreed during regular meetings.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

· Associate degree in a related field and one year’s experience in large-scale kitchen production.

· All work performed shall be aligned with the philosophy, mission, and values of Family Tree Relief Nursery.

· Basic knowledge of child maltreatment indicators and prevention of abuse; must attend or have a record or recent training in mandatory reporting.

· Exhibit dependability, flexibility, punctuality, and strong time management skills.

· Have or obtain and maintain Oregon Food Handler’s Card & Adult and Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification.

· Knowledge of child development and nutritional requirements for early education ages.

· Knowledge of inventory systems.

· Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures prescribed for large-scale kitchen production.

· Maintain enrollment in the State Childcare Division Central Background Registry

· Must have reliable transportation and maintain a valid driver’s license for your state of residency, personal auto liability coverage, and a driving record permitting coverage under the corporate liability policy. All employees driving for work purposes, regardless of whether driving a personal or agency vehicle must complete the agency’s driving approval process before they drive for work.
