Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Advocate to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in empowering families involved with the Department of Child Services by providing in-home, client-centered case management, supervised parenting time, and transportation assistance, empowering families to reach their goals. This role requires a strong commitment to child safety and a passion for helping families build a brighter future. The Family Advocate will engage with families, assess their needs, and facilitate access to services that promote safety, stability, and well-being.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Provide direct support to families in crisis, offering guidance and resources for effective crisis intervention and management.
  • Collaborate with child protective services to ensure the safety and welfare of children in challenging situations.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify families' strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Facilitate communication between families and service providers, including social workers, healthcare professionals, and legal representatives.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans in collaboration with families.
  • Provide support and resources to families as they work towards achieving their goals, such as parenting education, sobriety, budgeting assistance, mental health services, and secure
  • housing.
  • Conduct regular home visits to monitor progress, ensure child safety, and provide ongoing
  • support.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case documentation.
  • Communicate with the Department of Child Services, community partners, and other
  • professionals involved in the families' lives.
  • Advocate for the best interests of children and families within the legal and ethical framework.
  • Provide Supervised Parenting Time.
  • Assist clients with transportation to appointments.
  • Manage a full caseload, requiring scheduling flexibility, and time management skills.
  • Work in various environments and travel to client homes within our designated service area.

To be successful, you'll need the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a human services or related field (OR) an associate degree, high school diploma, or GED with at least 4 years of experience providing direct casework services to children and families. If you do not meet this qualification, please contact us regarding the Family Support Specialist position.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proven experience working with children and families in home-based settings is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of child protective services processes and child welfare regulations is essential.
  • A willingness to undergo background checks.
  • A compassionate and patient heart with a strong desire to help others.
  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and family dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and assessment skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in technology and documentation practices.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work hours that are compatible with the families in your caseload.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
