Position Overview:
This full-time position provides interpretation and translation services for clients of Office of Mental Health (OMH) clinics, including Chautauqua County Mental Hygiene (CCMH), The Resource Center (TRC/Gateway), and UPMC Chautauqua. Services are primarily provided in Northern Chautauqua County, particularly in the Dunkirk area, with occasional travel to other locations in the county as needed. In addition to clinic-based interpreting, this role supports community-based interpretation and limited case management, helping clients navigate services such as schools, pharmacies, housing, and other local resources. The position may also assist with outreach to community partners seeking interpretation services, supporting countywide expansion.
Essential Functions:
- Provide translation and interpretation services for clients, while offering limited case management support.
- Make reminder and follow-up calls, send letters, and assist with other outreach services for Hispanic/Latino clients at the request of the agencies.
- Ensure on-site coverage at agencies during designated dates and times.
- Assist clients with navigating community resources, including schools, pharmacies, housing providers, and other local services as needed.
- Provide interpretation support for meetings, appointments, and service coordination between clients and community providers.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of interpretation services and outreach activities as required.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and agency privacy policies.
- Support outreach, relationship-building, and expansion of interpretation services with community partners as opportunities arise.
- Meet with the Hispanic Outreach Manager as needed for supervision and coordination.
- Report any concerns or issues to the Hispanic Outreach Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Reliable transportation and a valid NYS driver’s license with personal auto insurance.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural required; lived experience or strong connection to the communities we serve is highly valued.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule across multiple locations.
- Experience with interpretation, human services, healthcare, or community outreach preferred but not required.
- Training and support will be provided upon hire.
Physical Environment / Working Conditions:
- The role involves both sitting and standing in an office setting, with face-to-face interactions with clients and staff.
- Frequent travel between agency locations and community settings throughout Chautauqua County is required.
Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including a computer (Word, Excel, and other software), fax machine, and telephone system.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
