TITLE: Program Director - Legal Advocacy Program
FT/PT: Full-time (35 hours per week, may include some evenings and weekends)
CLASSIFICATION: Salaried - Exempt
PAY GROUP: Grade 21
REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer
SUPERVISES: Advocates & Program Assistant
FUNCTION: The Program Director will coordinate IDVA and Legal Advocacy services for clients training and technical assistance for legal professionals and other advocates, and supervision of Legal Advocates.
The Program Director is responsible for the overall management of 3 office locations and will fulfill the responsibility of the management of each site by serving all locations on a regularly scheduled
basis.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement the program consistent with agency philosophy, which includes programming and staffing responsive to the multi-cultural and bilingual needs of the community.
- Provision of legal advocacy and court escort services for survivors of domestic violence,
- Facilitate evaluation, planning, and development of annual program goals and objectives consistent with long-range agency plans.
- Develop local resources through networking and outreach and formal agreements where appropriate or helpful.
- Plan and develop data collection to describe and evaluate program and service delivery.
- Provide supervision of interns and volunteers support to service delivery.
- Provide formal documented supervision of employees minimally bi-weekly.
- Assure appropriate staff coverage for program operations.
- Supervise, directly or indirectly, a multi-level staff; and consult specialist.
- Perform and approve performance evaluations at the 30-day, 90-day, mid-year and annual employment points.
- Participate
sin the hiring of new staff. - Responsible for new staff orientation, to be completed within the first 30 days of employment.
- Develop annually and implement staff training and development plans.
- Monitor data collection as required by contracts and grants and service audits, evaluate the same, and report on progress.
- Provide evaluation of data on a quarterly basis.
- Represent
sthe agency’s program to a wide variety of community groups and governmental agencies. - Provide training, technical assistance, and systemic advocacy to partners with the goal of improving legal access for survivors of domestic violence in Cook County.
- Recommended changes in agency policies affecting program operations.
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings regularly or as required.
- Manage program budget including management of, petty cash and approve expenses.
- Other duties as assigned
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in picking up and distribution of donations
- Research and/or gather resources to directly assist clients and/or to perform job.
- Assist in the up keep (cleaning) of office/building space(s).
- Assist in other programs both inter-agency as well as inter-program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Prefer bachelor’s degree in social service or related field with two (2) or more years’ applicable experience.
- Will consider candidates with 6 years related experience
- Must have 40-hour domestic violence training (within 3 months of hire date).
- Must be Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (within 1 year of hire date).
Language/Writing Skills:
- Must have excellent verbal skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively to diverse group(s) of people in varied settings.
- Must be able to write in a logical, clear and grammatically correct way.
Reasoning Ability:
- Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret common reports and documents.
- Must be able to respond to the needs and/or request of clients, co-workers, supervisors and others in a professional and timely manner.
- Must have the ability to plan and organize in a logical manner.
- Must be able to prioritize and multi-task in an efficient manner.
Salary : $75,000 - $78,000
