Compensation:
- $17.22 per hour (active/on-duty hours)
- $16.48 per hour for up to five designated asleep hours per shift
- Additional $2.00 per hour overnight differential, in accordance with agency policy

Family House is a short-term (typically up to 30 days), voluntary residential program serving youth ages 12–17 in Ulster County. The program provides crisis stabilization, assessment, and support within a trauma-informed, youth-centered environment aimed at promoting stability, skill-building, and successful transitions, in alignment with RHY and OCFS standards.
We are seeking an Overnight Residential Counselor (Asleep Shift) who is committed to supporting the safety and well-being of youth during overnight hours. This role is responsible for maintaining a calm, structured environment while youth are resting, remaining available and responsive to any needs or concerns that may arise, and ensuring adherence to program expectations and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Remain on-site and available throughout the overnight shift to ensure the safety and well-being of residents
- Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive environment while youth are resting
- Conduct required safety checks in accordance with program policy
- Respond appropriately and remain calm in the event of any concerns or crisis situations
- Communicate relevant overnight updates clearly to morning staff during shift transition
- Demonstrate professionalism, clear communication, and appropriate boundaries at all times
- Assist with light housekeeping as needed
- Occasionally, we transport youth to appointments using an agency vehicle
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in human services or a related field, or relevant and commensurate experience working with RHY and/or at-risk youth
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team while following direction and established structure
- Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Strong communication, professionalism, and reliability in a structured environment
- Must meet all agency and regulatory requirements, including a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, a yearly health statement, State Central Registry clearance, and NYS Justice Center clearance
- Four references required (two professional and two personal)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field
- Prior experience working with runaway and homeless youth (RHY) and/or at-risk youth in a residential or crisis setting
- Bilingual skills
