Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Schedule appointments, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage appointment reminders to optimize clinic flow.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, recording patient histories, and preparing examination rooms.
- Perform basic medical procedures including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and X-ray assistance as trained.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), document medical histories, and ensure proper coding using ICD standards for billing and documentation purposes.
- Support hospital medicine and outpatient services by managing patient intake, updating medical records, and assisting with EMR/EHR management.
- Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, managing correspondence, processing referrals, and maintaining medical documentation with precision.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting, ideally within dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management tools.
- Experience with hospital or Level I/II trauma center environments is preferred; inpatient or PICU experience is a plus.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures including vital signs collection, specimen collection (phlebotomy), X-ray assistance, and basic emergency response protocols.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical practices across internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and other specialties enhances your versatility in this role.
