In-Person Position
Job Summary
Provide comprehensive recreational therapy services for inpatient psychiatric patients, including assessments, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, and documentation. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or related recreation therapy program
- State of Michigan Recreational Therapist certification required
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 30 days of hire
- Must pass fingerprinting and criminal background check
- Annual PPD skin test required
- Recipient Rights training required within 30 days of hire
Responsibilities
- Assess, develop, implement, evaluate, and document recreational therapy treatment plans
- Support patient safety and promote physical and emotional well-being
- Maintain accurate patient medical records
- Collaborate effectively with staff, patients, and referral sources
- Maintain a professional image and communication style
- Follow all policies and procedures of:
- Family Health Psychiatric & Counseling Center, PC (FHPCC)
- MidMichigan Medical Center–Gratiot
- Attend scheduled clinical and administrative meetings
- Supervise recreation therapy students and volunteers
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Supervision
- Reports to: Inpatient Coordinator
- Supervises: Recreation Therapy students and volunteers
Work Environment
- Clean, well-lit inpatient medical setting
- Must be able to move freely throughout the unit and medical center
