Summary

The DACA Specialist II serves as a senior-level resource within the immigration services team, providing advanced knowledge, guidance, and support for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and handling complex cases. While not an attorney and not a formal supervisor, this role functions as a mentor and subject-matter lead, ensuring quality standards are met and supporting staff development. This role works closely in collaboration with the DACA Specialist I and the Citizenship Specialist to ensure compliance with programmatic and grant requirements. The DACA Specialist II also plays a key role in outreach, training, partnership development, and program improvement efforts to expand access and impact.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct, timely, and advanced-level support to DACA clients, including intake, education, and application assistance.
  • Ensure timely completion of program deliverables and maintain accurate client records.
  • Facilitate and support group workshops, orientations, and informational sessions internally, and in community settings, schools, and partner organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations and coalitions. Help develop client-facing materials, outreach tools, and educational resources related to DACA.
  • Connect clients to legal representatives or accredited providers for cases requiring legal advice.
  • Track and report service outcomes, ensuring data accuracy for compliance and evaluation. Maintain strict compliance with ethical standards and legal regulations.
  • Support grant and program reporting by providing client stories, outcome data, and program insights.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and partner agencies to expand wraparound support services for DACA recipients.
  • Stay current on policy changes, trends, and best practices, and share updates with staff and clients.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff questions regarding DACA-related processes, documentation, and client needs.
  • Review DACA applications prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance before submission.
  • Mentor and support new Specialists, providing informal training, guidance, and feedback.
  • Assist the Immigration Services Program Supervisor in identifying service gaps and recommending program improvements.

The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

  • Associate's degree in legal studies, social work, or related field. Bachelor's degree highly desired.
  • 3 years of experience in immigration services or case management, preferably with DOJ Accreditation or eligibility. Demonstrated expertise with DACA eligibility and processes.
  • DOJ Accreditation or eligibility and willingness to obtain within the first year in position.
  • Commitment to immigrant rights and community empowerment.
  • Experience interacting with USCIS, ICE, CBP, NVC, EOIR, and other relevant agencies. Experience with immigration court proceedings preferred.
  • Experience with data tracking and reporting for grants and contracts.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with cultural sensitivity..
  • Ability to manage high-volume caseloads under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Must have ability to attend court proceedings and meetings using personal means.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay: $54,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
