Responsibilities
- Assist patients in choosing appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences
- Take precise measurements of pupils, frames, and lenses to ensure optimal fit and vision correction
- Support optometrist with clinical tasks such as measuring vital signs and conducting basic eye assessments
- Maintain accurate medical records, including optical prescriptions, medical history, and billing information using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality during all interactions and documentation processes
- Manage retail sales of eyewear products, including inventory management.
- Support laboratory processes by assisting with lens fitting and adjustments.
Skills
- knowledge of ophthalmology principles, and medical terminology relevant to eye care
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical information clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care
- understand medical coding for billing purposes
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy at all times
- Basic understanding of medical billing processes and medical records management within a clinical environment
Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour
