Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service, creating a positive first impression.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and efficiency using various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification to facilitate seamless billing.
  • Schedule appointments effectively, coordinate with clinical staff, and manage the daily calendar to optimize patient flow.
  • Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform medical billing using systems like Meditech, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for health information management.
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 coding (International Classification of Diseases), and other medical coding procedures.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries promptly.
  • Assist with intake procedures for new patients, including gathering medical history and updating personal information.
  • Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized dental office records.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to prepare care plans and ensure all documentation aligns with regulatory standards.
  • Use dental terminology accurately to communicate effectively within the team and with patients.
  • Perform clerical duties such as faxing, scanning documents, and managing medical office supplies to keep the front desk running smoothly.

Skills

  • Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with strong clinic experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open dental, Epic,
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with health information management software like eClinicalWorks or Carestream Dental software.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Skilled in CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and documentation review processes.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and general healthcare practices.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other third-party payers.
  • Ability to handle medical collections and billing efficiently while maintaining positive patient relationships.
  • Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and data entry tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette on multi-line phone systems.
