JOB TITLE: Thrift Store Clerk/Sorter DEPARTMENT: Renewed Hope Thrift Store
REPORTS TO: Thrift Store Manager
BENEFITS: Part time position; Health, Dental & Vision Insurance, Vacation/Sick Leave
Looking to fill shifts on Monday and Friday 9:45AM-5:30PM and every other Saturday 9:45AM-6:30PM
Position Summary
The Thrift Store Clerk supports the mission of Family Crisis Centers by delivering excellent customer service, sorting and pricing donated goods, and maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment. This role plays a vital part in generating revenue to support victim services.
Key Responsibilities
Sorting & Pricing
- Evaluate donated items for quality and appropriateness for sale.
- Price and prepare items (clothing, household goods, etc.) for display.
Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
- Operate the cash register, process transactions, and bag purchases.
- Answer customer questions and help create a positive shopping experience.
Store Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work and shopping environment.
- Assist with general upkeep including sweeping, organizing displays, and restocking shelves.
- May be responsible for closing duties independently as scheduled.
Team Support
- Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily store operations.
Qualifications
- Friendly and approachable, with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Must be able to contribute to a positive work environment, cultivating positive relationships with fellow coworkers and volunteers
- Dependable, adaptable, and willing to take initiative with assigned tasks.
- Occasionally may have to move bags/boxes weighing up to 20 pounds to the sorting room.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the building to place items or assist customers.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful but not required.
- Background Requirements: Must pass all required background checks, including/not limited to:
- Criminal and child/dependent adult abuse background checks
- Sex Offender Registry clearance
