What are the responsibilities and job description for the Great Bend Weekend/Holiday Shelter Advocate position at Family Crisis Center, Inc?
Are you looking for a part-time job? Do you like helping people? We’re looking for a compassionate, reliable, and hardworking individuals to be a part of our Shelter Team. While weekend and holiday weekend is a must- flexible scheduling is available! This position is part-time, Saturday 7:00 am through Monday 7:00 am one or two weekends a month, and alternating 8 hour shifts on holidays- with the possibility to pick up more to assist with coverage of the shelter.
This would be a fantastic opportunity for a college student- or someone looking for a new side hustle! This will be for our shelter.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
1. Responsible providing supportive and advocacy services to program participants including but not limited to shelter assessments for adults and their children, program assessments, supportive services, referrals, emergency assistance, etc.
2. Responsible for answering crisis line and completing required documentation.
3. Responsible to assist in creating a positive cultural environment of personal leadership, communications and teamwork within the shelter and throughout the agency.
4. Responsible to maintain a working knowledge of resources and services available in the communities served to assist survivors.
5. Responsible to monitor shelter facility for safety, upkeep and needed repairs.
6. Responsible for documenting all information in regard to crisis calls and residential services as required by policy and procedure and entering all client services in to our Osnium data base.
7. Responsible for transporting clients to necessary safe places as need, example: hospital, doctors, child pick up or drop off, NA or AA meetings and pick up or drop of at their place of employment.
8. Responsible daily cleaning and upkeep of shelter such as sweeping, mopping, dishes, dusting and any other chores as assigned.
9. Responsible for complete clean out and preparing of a room for the next client coming in (washing wall, furniture, sweeping & mopping, disinfecting room, stripping and washing bedding and remaking of beds.
10. May be asked to help clients with multiple tasks as they request such as: watching children for short periods of time, help clients with life skills such as cooking, laundry or general clean up as needed.
11. Responsible to help clients with conflict resolution with other clients and de-escalation of any conflict in shelter.
12. Responsible for completing statistical and service information for reporting requirements as assigned.
13. Responsible to attend and participate in assigned agency meetings.
14. Responsible for other duties as designated by the DSVC Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
· Higher education preferred. High school degree or GED equivalent required.
· Experience in domestic violence or sexual assault field, volunteer experience, or related experience is suggested.
· Clear understanding of confidentiality.
· Ability to work independently and as a team.
· Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse issues and trends.
· Knowledge of service area resources preferred.
· Knowledge of computer/internet programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Apps.
· Express commitment to the empowerment of women and children.
· Experience working with diverse people and groups.
· Experience maintaining personal/professional boundaries and managing stress constructively.
· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.
· Manage and resolve conflict.
· Excellent initiative, integrity and strong sense of professionalism.
· Possess valid Kansas driver’s license, clean driving record, access to reliable transportation, & proof of current liability insurance.

· Manual dexterity and able to use wrists, hands and/or fingers in repetitive motion.

· Bending, lifting, and carrying up to 40 pounds (donations/commodities).
WORK SCHEDULE
Work hours are 24-hour shifts both Saturday and Sunday.
Holiday Hours differ.
