What are the responsibilities and job description for the Debt Assessment/Customer Service position at Family Credit Management?
Make a Real Difference: No Experience Needed, We'll Train You
Family Credit Management is the only nonprofit debt management company based in Illinois, and one of the largest in the nation. We're looking for a detail-oriented, caring person to join our Debt Assessment Group, a role that plays a huge part in helping real people get the financial help they need.
No experience in finance or credit counseling? Good, we prefer it that way. We'll give you all the training you need. If you enjoy written communication, like helping others, and are ready to learn, this could be a great fit.
This position is primarily in-office, but we're looking for someone open to a little schedule variety. As you grow into the role, you'll have the opportunity to work some evenings or weekends from home, with those hours reflected in your in-office schedule. Overtime is also available when we're busy to those who would like it.
What You'll Do:
In this role, you'll be one of the first people to review a new client's situation and help determine how we can best support them. That means reviewing basic financial information and credit reports (we'll show you how), responding to emails and text messages, and making sure the right people on our team are focused on the right consumers at the right time.
Specifically, you will:
- Review incoming information and credit reports to assess how we can help and how urgently
- Reach out to prospective clients when we need more information before we can move forward
- Help manage the counseling department's email inbox, responding to quote follow-ups, information requests, and general inquiries with professionalism and care
- Provide light guidance to consumers whose situations call for simpler solutions, freeing our senior counselors to focus on more complex cases
- Work toward obtaining your credit counseling certification (we support and guide you through this process)
- Use Salesforce, Outlook, and other tools to stay organized and manage your work
What We're Looking For:
- Someone who writes clearly, professionally, and warmly
- A calm, caring personality and a genuine desire to help people in stressful situations
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
- Good follow-through and reliability
- Openness to learning; we provide full training and ongoing support
Salary : $17 - $20
