What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at Family & Children's Counseling Services?
35–40 hours per week
Family & Children’s Counseling Services is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Billing Department Specialist to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting our clinical and administrative staff while ensuring accurate billing and payment processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Verify client insurance coverage and benefits using multiple insurance portals; contact insurance companies by phone as needed
- Communicate with clients regarding billing and insurance-related inquiries
- Balance, reconcile, and complete payments; make bank deposits when required
- Collaborate with support staff across multiple locations to address questions related to payments and insurance
- Confirm daily completion of clinician progress notes
- Submit insurance claims on a weekly basis
- Post insurance payments into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and follow up on claim denials
Qualifications
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Solid math skills and accuracy in financial work
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
- Flexible, dependable, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated awareness and understanding of LGBTQ issues, with the ability to practice gender-affirming and inclusive interactions
