Quality Technician

About the Position:

QC Lab Technicians provide quality assurance support to production team to ensure the highest quality standards and procedures are met by performing detailed audits of in-process and finished products, documenting daily production processes and collecting data to analyze trends. Works with Quality Control Manager and production teams to diagnose issues and implement corrective action procedures. The technician is expected to achieve this by completing robust inspections, documenting them, and alerting management with any quality concerns. The technician will be taught key customer requirements and standard procedures and will assist manufacturing in understanding them. This role will be production-based and work actively in production while completing essential quality duties.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Samples and tests products at various stages of production.
  • Troubleshoots production and quality issues on production floor and inspects product to ensure quality standards are within tolerance.
  • Performs internal and external calibration on all test equipment to ensure testing accuracy.
  • Ensure product dimensions are within specified tolerances and performing a fit test to ensure proper panel engagement
  • Ensuring panel aesthetics meet FALK Panel’s documentation and documenting finished products with pictures.
  • Acceptance testing- ensuring pieces are within tolerance before production
  • Inspect incoming steel to ensure they meet internal requirements
  • Trains operators and effectively communicates non-compliant product parameters and product/packaging specifications.
  • Coordinates with shipping and warehouse personnel to move stock for evaluation, isolate stock and put on hold, and scrap stock when necessary.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork accurately and maintains a filing system so data can be quickly accessed.
  • Completes multiple daily product collections, evaluations, and testing to include: compression testing, open cell evaluation, R-value testing (fresh and aged), and other lab assessments.
  • Interacts with line supervisors to report quality non-compliances and follows through verifying improved line conditions to produce a compliant product.
  • Comply with all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Quality Control in a manufacturing setting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to work 8 hours per day with ability to work overtime and weekends as needed (up to 12 hours per day as necessary for production volume).
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment with extreme temperatures, dust, noise, some outdoor exposure and other conditions typical of a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to use tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
  • Must have good mathematics skills, the ability to accurately use a tape measure, and be knowledgeable in both US and metric measurement systems.
  • Must be able to effectively use a computer and have proficient experience in MS Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to take detailed clear photographs documenting quality.
  • Ability to read, write, type, and verbally communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to bend, lift, twist, squat, leg press, push, pull, carry, reach, grasp, and other physical movements typical of product testing and quality control. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. regularly. Must have visual acuity, discernment of color and texture, and finger dexterity.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
