POSITION SUMMARY

The industrial maintenance mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing production equipment across manufacturing facility. This role is critical to minimizing downtime, ensuring food safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement efforts in a high-volume consumer packaged goods environment. The mechanic works collaboratively with production, sanitation, and engineering teams and is expected to exercise strong independent judgment in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production machinery including fillers, sealers, conveyors, mixers, blenders, labelers, and packaging lines.
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical failures; restore equipment to operational status with minimal production interruption.
  • Conduct equipment changeovers, adjustments, and start-up verifications to meet production schedules and product specifications.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and OEM manuals to complete repairs and modifications accurately.
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and work orders in the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adhere to all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, SQF, and food safety protocols; maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Perform LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Assist in capital projects, equipment installations, and facility improvement initiatives as directed by the maintenance supervisor or plant engineer.
  • Communicate proactively with production supervisors and the maintenance team regarding equipment status, parts needs, and anticipated downtime.
  • Identify opportunities for reliability improvements and cost reductions; participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED; technical/trade school certification or apprenticeship preferred
  • 3 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical systems: bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Basic electrical knowledge (120/240/480V AC systems, motors, motor starters, PLCs)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and electrical schematics
  • Competency with precision hand tools, power tools, welding (MIG/TIG preferred), and measuring instruments
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and LOTO procedures
  • Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to on-call emergencies

SCHEDULE

The schedule for this role is a 12 hour, rotating 2/2/3 Schedule. There are two shifts open, 6am to 6pm, or 6pm to 6am.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
