About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to support a fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production, processing, packaging, and facility equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and the ability to diagnose equipment problems in an industrial environment. Experience with electrical systems, automated packaging machinery, conveyors, pneumatics, motors, and preventive maintenance is highly valued.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, keeping production equipment operating safely, and working as part of a collaborative maintenance and operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Maintain production, processing, conveying, and packaging machinery.
- Diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs efficiently to minimize production downtime.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance according to established schedules.
- Repair and replace motors, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, sensors, and other industrial components.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, including motors, switches, relays, contactors, control panels, and variable-frequency drives.
- Assist with PLC-controlled equipment troubleshooting and identify potential input, output, sensor, or communication issues.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Perform equipment inspections and identify developing issues before they result in breakdowns.
- Support machinery installations, upgrades, changeovers, and improvement projects.
- Work closely with production employees and supervisors to identify equipment concerns.
- Document completed repairs, parts used, downtime, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety, quality, sanitation, and food-manufacturing procedures.
- Participate in continuous-improvement efforts focused on equipment reliability and production efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, packaging, food, beverage, distribution, or similar environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience working with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, belts, chains, and automated equipment.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Basic to intermediate industrial electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to use multimeters and other diagnostic tools safely.
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery is preferred.
- Packaging-equipment or high-speed production experience is a plus.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs or computerized maintenance management systems is helpful.
- Welding, fabrication, machining, or general facility-maintenance experience is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Ability to work the assigned shift and respond to urgent equipment issues.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, climb, kneel, and work around industrial machinery.
- Ability to lift and move tools, parts, and equipment as required.
- Ability to work in a production environment that may include noise, heat, dust, coffee aromas, and moving equipment.
