Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across various subjects such as literacy, math, physical education, and arts.
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, or visual impairments.
- Collaborate with special education teams to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that set personalized goals for students.
- Utilize learning technology and instructional design principles to enhance classroom engagement and facilitate effective learning experiences.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive behavioral management techniques, fostering a safe and inclusive environment conducive to learning.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Provide academic advising, tutoring, and mentoring to support students’ academic achievement and personal growth.
Skills
- Proven experience in early childhood education, preschool settings, or private schools with classroom management expertise.
- Strong knowledge of special education practices including speech therapy, behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavioral health strategies.
- Expertise in curriculum development across multiple disciplines such as literacy education, math instruction, music therapy, recreational therapy, and physical education.
- Familiarity with working with children with disabilities or those requiring early intervention services; experience with IEPs is highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, and specialists; capable of proofreading educational materials for clarity and accuracy.
- Ability to design engaging lesson plans that incorporate learning technology and instructional design principles to maximize student engagement.
- Experience in classroom experience with diverse learners including toddlers, preschoolers, or students in Montessori or early intervention programs.
