Job Summary
The Central Technical Director provides strategic oversight and hands-on leadership for all technical systems across Faith Chapel, including audio, video, and lighting (AVL). This role ensures that all technical infrastructure is fully operational, up to date, and capable of delivering excellent worship experiences across campuses and environments. The Central Technical Director collaborates cross-departmentally to support the execution of services and events while maintaining system reliability, technical standards, and long-term growth strategies.
This position requires a high level of technical acumen, system design knowledge, and the ability to lead technical teams in live environments and ongoing maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
1. AVL Systems Oversight
o Manage all audio, video, and lighting systems across all physical environments (Word Dome, Campus A, The Bridge, The Care Center, and satellite campuses).
o Lead technical infrastructure design, maintenance, and upgrades in collaboration with campus teams and contractors.
o Troubleshoot and resolve high-level technical issues efficiently and proactively.
2. Technical Staff Leadership
o Provide supervision, mentorship, and scheduling for technical staff and contractors.
o Conduct regular technical training and development for team members.
o Oversee contractor relationships and ensure clarity in scope and execution.
3. Campus Support & Collaboration
o Serve as primary support for campus tech directors and AVL teams.
o Ensure all campuses meet the same technical standards and service expectations.
o Provide remote and on-site assistance for major campus events and services.
4. Equipment Stewardship & Asset Management
o Oversee inventory, procurement, and maintenance schedules for AVL gear.
o Build and manage equipment replacement cycles and upgrade strategies.
o Maintain documentation of all technical systems and signal flows.
5. Compliance, Safety & System Integrity
o Ensure technical systems adhere to safety codes and industry standards.
o Implement preventative maintenance routines to minimize downtime.
o Maintain security, backups, and redundancies for critical systems.
6. Cross-Departmental Communication
o Partner with Worship, Creative, Guest Experience, and Service Programming to ensure AVL systems are prepared for rehearsals, services, and events.
o Attend relevant planning meetings to stay ahead of production needs.
7. Special Project Support
o Provide AVL strategy for special events, conferences, or video shoots.
o Manage any outsourced AVL installs or system upgrades with excellence.
8. Documentation & Reporting
o Maintain technical diagrams, SOPs, and workflow documentation.
o Provide reports to Production Department Head on system status, needs, and major incidents.
PHYSICAL REǪUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Need to lift or carry light office supplies, equipment, or packages weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Light walking and standing will be involved.
