What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping & Receiving Clerk position at Fairway Aluminum Solutions?
Under the direction of the Shipping and Receiving Lead, the Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving materials, preparing and shipping orders, and maintaining accurate inventory records within the D365 system.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in the company's Zero-Incident Safety Culture and comply with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Operate Microsoft D365 to manage inventory, receive materials, and process warehouse movements.
- Receive and inspect vendor deliveries; accurately record and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Stage, manage, and ship product deliveries for field supervisors and subcontractors.
- Pick, package, and prepare hardware for shipment; ensure all items are present and correctly loaded.
- Perform daily cycle counts and participate in scheduled inventory audits to maintain accuracy.
- Return unused or reclaimed hardware and materials to stock in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness following 5S standards.
- Serve as a primary D365 user for warehouse management tasks and follow all documented procedures and work instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company goals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous warehouse experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and experience using handheld scanners.
- Previous experience working in D365 and/or other ERP software preferred.
- Previous forklift operator experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
- The work environment is manufacturing based. Noise levels may be moderate to high.
- May be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- Operates and manipulates tools and materials.
- Requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs or ladders.
- Required to push, pull, lift, or carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Must wear required PPE and follow safety protocols and procedures.
- Requires visual acuity to observe operations, read production documents, and monitor equipment, as well as auditory ability to communicate effectively in a noisy shop environment with moving machinery.
